Artist Biography -
David Bowyer |
|
David Bowyer was trained as an abstract painter; his work has
matured to reflect his interest in English landscape,
architecture and wild life. He is a full time professional
artist/printmaker, making his limited edition colour etchings
and other works on paper in his studio close to his home in
Blackheath. His printmaking develops in parallel with his
watercolours and drawings, creating relating bodies of work.
David's images are largely based on his experience of landscapes
made familiar through repeated visits although he has been known
to go underwater and even underground in search of subjects. |

David acts as tutor on the Summer
Painting Break at Parceval Hall in Wharfdale, North Yorkshire,
and in its variety and scale the area has long been a source of
inspiration. More recently David has been leading short,
intensive courses in watercolour painting at Denman College,
near Abingdon, national residential education centre of the
Women's Institute (open also to non-WI-members).
He continues to be an active
member of the Greenwich Printmakers, co-ordinating the
co-operative's invited participation in the forthcoming
'Impressions' exhibition hosted by the Royal Birmingham Society
of Artists.
Other current projects include
working towards showing watercolours later in 2005 with the
'Sharing a View' group at the Burton Art Gallery, Bideford,
following a working week in Linton, North Devon last autumn, and
exhibitions at the Stark Gallery, Canterbury and Artshed, New
Milton, Hampshire.
