| My
present work divides into three categories: painting of
landscape, architecture, people and places: abstract images and
direct observational work from the figure; life drawing and
portrait.
I begin with
sketches and photographs which I develop into linear
compositions before transferring to canvas. The abstracts start
the same way but the representational image is gradually lost
during the process of abstraction.
I try to
show the journey of the work keeping something back each time I
develop an area, as in life which is made up of small comings
and goings, for everything we take away we leave something
behind. |
