Artist Biography - Lindsey Malin

I have been drawing, painting and keeping a sketchbook as long as I can remember. With no formal art training, I regularly attended life drawing classes and other evening art classes, while working with the art collection at the National Maritime Museum. Since retiring in 1999, I have made a studio in our house and continued painting from there.

My work is figurative with an emphasis on detail and at present I am painting small still lives in watercolour, but have used acrylic and oil for larger works. I also enjoy painting flowers and plants and have benefited from classes in botanical illustration. I love the elements of pattern, design and colour and an interest in fabric crafts, especially patchwork, also influences my paintings.
